This year's harvest is the third by volume since Ukraine independence

The domestic agrarians continue harvesting late grain-crops. In total it is threshed more than 33 million tons of grain in the area of 12 million hectares, which is 80% forecast. This was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food during a briefing at the Government House on Oct. 3, Government Portal reports.
«The domestic agrarians continue harvesting crops. At present there have already been thrashed 12 million hectares, which is 80% forecast. According to our estimates, farmers threshed over 33 million tons of grain. In particular, 7.2 million tons corn are threshed, buckwheat 225 thousand tons, millet 162 thousand tons, rice 99 thousand tons. Also 5.8 million tons sunflower are threshed, soybean -1.3 million tons,» Mykola Prysyazhnyuk informed.
The Minister stressed it is expected to collect 21 million tons of corn and 2.4 million tons of soybeans. According to him, this years harvest at the level of 45,546 million tons is the third largest figure since independence.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk also reminded that 25.4 million tons of early crops have been harvested, including wheat 15 million tons. As the domestic demand for food grain is 6 million tons, this years harvest will be more than enough to ensure the country food security.
