Agrarian Policy Ministry forecasts 46.5 million tons grain croppage

Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine forecasts grain croppage of 4646.5 million tons this year, agrarian policy and food minister of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk told a briefing after the Cabinet’s meeting on September 12, 2012, says ForUm referring to Cabinet’s press service.
According to him, 26.8 million tons were already harvested as of today isincluding 25.5 million tons of early grain.
Prysiazhniuk said that wheat crop makes up 14.5 million tons, 80%of which are food grains.
The minister also informed that the corn has been harvested from 7% of the area and 1.2 million tons have been already ground; buckwheat from 50% of the area, 150 thousand tons ground; millet 67% of the area, 130 thousand tons ground.
Prysiazhniuk said that currently the farmers are sowing winter crops. In particular, 730 hectares have been already sowed with winter crops: 660 thousand hectares of wheat, 53 hectares of rye, 12 hectares of barley. In addition, the area of winter rape seeds is 860 ha (90% of the forecast).
As for autumn field work, the minister said that fuels and lubricants, fertilizers, plant protection tools are prepared in full.
