Azarov: 2009 gas contracts with Russia to be revised soon
31.08.2012 16:29 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As to Government Portal report, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said he is confident that gas contracts signed with Russia in 2009 will soon be revised and that Ukraine will get a reasonable price for natural gas. He announced this in an interview with a tv channel.
«I am confident that we will find a compromise with Russia and get a fair price for gas,» the head of government said. He again said that the domestic gas pipeline and transportation system was the cheapest, the most suitable and the most reliable way for the gas supplies from Russia to Europe. According to Mykola Azarov, Ukraine has unique underground gas storage facilities that ensure the uninterrupted supplies of natural gas to Europe during peak periods in winter, he said. The Prime Minister also stressed that Ukraine would continue its course for the introduction of energy efficient technologies (in particular, the transfer of heat and power plants from expensive Russian gas to domestic coal) and will reduce its dependency on the consumption of natural gas imported from Russia.
