Vegetables, fruits fall in price by over third at beginning of August

06.08.2012 16:38 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — The cost of the fruit and vegetable basket fell by 3.1% last week. Therefore, the main set of vegetables and fruits cost by 30.9% less for Ukrainians at the beginning of August against the start of July. The peculiarity of the current season is absence of traditional price hikes in the middle of summer. In the current season, demand for traditional vegetables of the borshch set in summer considerably exceeds supply, which continues to pressure prices During the previous week the largest influence on reduction of the cost of the fruit and vegetable basket was made by prices for fruits and hot house vegetables.
