1.8 million guests visit Ukraine during EURO 2012
04.07.2012 13:22 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Nearly two million foreigners have visited Ukraine during the finals of the EURO 2012 European Football Championship, the Ukraine-2012 Information Center has quoted Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov as saying.
«Every guest has left on average USD 400 in our country, that is, in general, the fans spent nearly a billion dollars,» Kolesnikov said. The deputy prime minister noted that Ukraine had demonstrated its ability to organize large-scale events at a high level and presented itself well to the world. In addition, he noted that the success of the championship would have been impossible without the residents of the host country. «The success of the championship, along with the organizers, should be shared by ordinary Ukrainians who helped many visitors in every way possible. We have demonstrated our ability to organize the third-largest sporting event after the Olympic Games and the World Cup,» Kolesnikov said.
