Economic committee prepares Yanukovych's meeting with Putin

The intergovernmental committee on economic cooperation has done a great deal of work on preparing a meeting of the interstate commission, to be chaired by Ukrainian and Russian Presidents Viktor Yanukovych and Vladimir Putin. Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov announced this after the ninth meeting of the committee, which was held in Kyiv on Wednesday, June 27.
«I think that we have currently done a great deal of work on preparing a meeting of the interstate commission at the level of the two presidents,» the prime minister said. Azarov noted that at a meeting on Wednesday, the sides discussed the prospects of cooperation in the space sector, shipbuilding, engineering, energy, and agriculture. In particular, the sides decided to draw up a program for cooperation in the field of engineering for 20132014. The parties also agreed to continue interregional and cross-border cooperation. «I am pleased to state that the leadership o the Russian government and new ministers are sincerely interested in the development of our bilateral cooperation. I am convinced that the new government team will give a new impetus to our cooperation,» the Ukrainian prime minister said. After the meeting, the sides signed a number of documents, in particular, a protocol of the ninth meeting of the committee on economic cooperation of the Ukrainian-Russian interstate commission, and a protocol between the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers and the Russian government on the introduction of amendments to the intergovernmental agreement of August 20, 1997 on cooperation in developing the production, supply and operation of aircraft. In addition, the sides signed a program of Ukrainian-Russian cooperation in research and the use of outer space for peaceful purposes for 20122016.
