14.06.2012 10:11 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Ukraine and Lebanon have good prospects for developing cooperation in the agricultural sector, particularly in the supply of Ukrainian grain crops to Lebanon.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov announced this at a meeting with Lebanese Energy and Water Resources Minister Gibran Bassil in Kyiv on Tuesday, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported. According to Azarov, Ukraine has exported more than 21 million tons of grain to various countries over the last seven months. «Lebanese businesses could have benefited from this, because these supplies were mainly made to Arab countries,» he said, adding that in the current marketing year, Ukraine plans to export at least 2122 million tons of grain: «It could export even more grain, because we seeded more corn, and weather conditions for this crop are very favorable, and we expect a good crop of corn.» The prime minister noted that cooperation in the agricultural sector is profitable, because a shortage of grain is expected on world markets.
