26.04.2012 13:29 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
According to the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). the consumer price index in Ukraine in March 2012 rose by 0.3%, and in annual terms inflation fell to 1.9% (the lowest figure over the last nine years).
«There was a continued slowdown in core inflation in annual terms to 5.3% (core CPI last month rose by only 0.1%),» reads the statement. Moderate monetary and fiscal policies, which are continuing to influence aggregate demand, contributed to this, the NBU said. Among the components of non-core inflation over the past 12 months, the largest was a rise in prices for fuel (11.6%) under the influence of increasing oil prices on world commodity markets. According to the State Statistics Service, in February 2012, core inflation in Ukraine was 6.1%. Earlier, the NBU forecast that inflation would stand at 7% in 2012.
