Ukraine can do without IMF money, but it may affect economy
23.02.2012 14:16 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
This is what Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Social Policy Serhiy Tihipko told reporters in Kyiv."With all the statements about a difficult situation, there are plenty of reserves that can be used," he said.
But nevertheless it would be badly accepted both by domestic and foreign investors, so we should do our best," he said, commenting on the possibility of discontinuing the existing Stand-By Arrangement with the IMF. Tihipko also emphasized that he is doing everything possible to make the cooperation program continue. As reported, the World Bank in its Country Partnership Strategy for Ukraine for the period covering 20122016 said the existing Stand-by Arrangement with the IMF is at risk to be discontinued.
