Government buys over 150,000 tons of sugar for state reserves

The government in 2011 has purchased into the state reserves more than 150,000 tons of sugar, Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk said Monday.
«For today, the state has purchased more than 150,000 tons of sugar at a quite high price to avoid the dips in the pricing policy,» Prysiazhniuk emphasized. He added that the formation of food reserves and influencing the pricing situation on the food market of the country - it is a task of the state. According to forecasts of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food, this season Ukraine will produce 2.12.2 million tons of beet sugar after 1.54 million tons last season. The capacity of Ukrainian sugar market is estimated by experts at 1.82 million tons a year.
