50 years of Häagen-Dazs
17.05.2010 11:24 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Super premium ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs marks its 50th anniversary with a week-long celebration in New York.
Created by New Yorker Reuben Mattus in 1960, the Nestlé-owned brand in the United States kicks off the festivities this week at its birthplace, with free scoops of the ice cream and offers of promotional prices to members of the public.
To reaffirm its presence in the community, Häagen-Dazs will present Robert Morgenthau, Chairman of the Police Athletic League in New York, and Raymond Kelly, New York Police Commissioner, with a USD 10,000 cheque as a thank you.
Darin Perry, Häagen-Dazs Brand Director in the United States said: «Häagen-Dazs ice cream wouldn’t be celebrating 50 years of flavour without the support of our loyalists. We’re extremely grateful to give back to the New York community that supported us from the beginning, helping us to become the iconic ice cream brand we are today.»
Häagen-Dazs will extend the celebrations to those who protect and serve the community by delivering Häagen-Dazs ice cream to 10 local fire and police stations in Brooklyn and the Bronx, before Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host a ribbon-cutting celebration.
Residents outside the New York area will also be able to join the celebration at this year’s national Häagen-Dazs Free Flavour Day next week on Tuesday, May 18.
In addition, ice cream lovers can join in the celebrations and enjoy a free scoop of one of three original all-natural ice cream flavours; Häagen-Dazs Chocolate, Coffee or Vanilla, at participating Häagen-Dazs shops across the United States.
