Ministry of Agrarian Policy estimates 90% winter crops sown areas as good/satisfactory

As of Feb 11/10, Ministry of Agrarian Policy experts estimated condition of about 4 mn ha winter grains sown areas (45.6% total) as good and 3.77 mn ha (44.1% total) satisfactory, reported Ministry of Agrarian Policy referring to regions data.
As to report, winter grains seedlings were estimated weak/rare at about 0.9 mn ha (10.3% total).
Thus, in part., condition of 3 mn ha (46.4% total) winter wheat sown areas was good (2.91 mn ha or 43.6% total satisfactory; seedlings at 0.66 mn ha or 9.9% total were recognized weak/rare); condition of 0.64 mn ha (40.6% total) winter barley sown areas was good (0.74 mn ha or 47% total satisfactory; seedlings at about 0.2 mn ha or 12.4% total were estimated weak/rare).
Reportedly, as of Feb 11/10, winter rape sown areas totaled about 1.4 mn ha; Ministry experts estimated as good condition of 38% total winter rape sown areas (satisfactory 41.6%; weak/rare 20.5%).
As to State Statistics Committee data, in 2009 Ukraine had sown agricultural winter crops (incl. winter rape) for 2010 harvesting at total 10.1 mn ha, up about 3% against 2008. In part., in 2009 winter grains sown areas had enlarged to 8.6 mn ha, up 3.7% against 2008 (incl. winter wheat to about 6.7 mn ha, up 2.6%; winter barley to about 1.6 mn ha, up 25.4%). However, in 2009 winter rape sown areas had shortened to 1.4 mn ha, down 1.4% against 2008 (winter rye to 300,000 ha, down 1.4% as of 2008).
