Rada reduced cognac excise duty by 30%

11.02.2010 17:06 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Parliament has adopted Law establishing cognac excise duty as much as UAH14 per 1 liter of 100% spirit (instead of UAH20 per 1 liter of 100% spirit, which has been efficient since this year Jan 01). Law was voted for by 331 people deputies. It is to be admitted, newly adopted Law also stipulates that cognac excise duty will be raised to UAH20 per 1 liter of 100% spirit since next year Jan 01 (since Jan 01/12 — to UAH27 per 1 liter of 100% spirit). As earlier reported, end 2008 Verkhovna Rada had adopted Law on alcoholic drinks (incl. cognac) excise duties gradual growing. Law stipulated that cognac excise duty should have been established within Jan 01/09-Jun 30/09 as much as UAH10 per 1 liter of 100% spirit (within Jul 01/09-Dec 31/09 — UAH14 per 1 liter of 100% spirit, since Jan 01/10 — UAH20 per 1 liter of 100% spirit and since Jan 01/11 — UAH27 per 1 liter of 100% spirit). Besides, Law also stipulated that since 2012 cognac excise duty should be equal to vodka/distilled beverages excise duties.
