Farmers harvest 6.222 million MT of vegetables as of Oct 1, State Statistics Committee

As of October 1, farmers had harvested 6.222 million MT of vegetables, an increase by 12.1% compared with the same period of 2008, the State Statistics Committee has reported. They harvested vegetables on 362,580 hectares, a 2.5% growth over the corresponding indicator of 2008. The average yield of vegetables is 172 centners per hectare in 2009, 15 centners per hectare more compared with 2008. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, as of September 1 farmers had harvested 3.682 MT of vegetables, a 14.9% growth year-on-year. In 2008, the harvest of vegetables (after processing) rose by 16.5% or 1.13 million MT compared with 2007, to 7.965 million MT. In 2007, the harvest of vegetables (after processing) decreased by 15.2% or 1.223 million MT compared with 2006, to 6.835 million MT.
