Agrarians have sown spring crops at area of 18 million ha

As of Jun 1, Ukrainian agrarians have sown spring crops at area of 17.930.300 ha, with agricultural companies having sown at areas of 12.105.300 ha (against 2003 sown areas of ~ 13.587.300 ha) and individual agricultural economies – at areas of ~ 5.825.000 ha (against 2003 sown areas of ~ 5.514.000 ha), reported State Statistics Committee. As to report, this year spring crops’ sown areas have lessened 1.170.000 ha (– 6.7%) as of last year May 30. Re-sowing over perished winter crops was carried out at area of 282.700 ha (with ~ 3.798.8 ha within last year similar period). Spring grains (without maize) were sown at area of 6.301.800 ha (against last year similar period’s 5.102.400 ha). As to State Statistics Committee, sugar beet has been sown at area of 760.000 ha (against ~ 786.000 ha in 2003), sunflower – at area of ~ 3.307.200 ha (against ~ 2.912.400 ha in 2003), potatoes – at area of ~ 1.538.300 ha (while in 2003 ~ 1.527.400 ha were sown), vegetables – at area of ~ 453.900 ha (with ~ 451.600 ha being sown in 2003).
