Melnyk: springtime field works finances deficit is ≈ UAH4 milliard

Ukrainian springtime field works financial means deficit is ≈ UAH4 milliard, reported Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Melnyk within Mar 11/09 Agrarian-Industrial Complex problems parliamentary hearings. “Springtime field works total expanses are estimated UAH26 milliard. As of now, deficit of financial means for springtime field works preparation is ≈ UAH4 milliard,” declared Melnyk. Minister admitted though agrarians hope commercial banks will resume giving credits, yet banks refuse to restart crediting so far. Besides, Melnyk said now agrarians need UAH4.2 milliard credits prolonging; however, banks have prolonged only UAH2 milliard credits. Also, Minister made it known that in total ≈ UAH5 milliard new credits are needed for springtime field works, though agrarians, in fact, received below UAH500 million credits so far. “Condition of Agrarian-Industrial Complex budgetary financing presents threat to entire agricultural branch,” emphasized Melnyk. He said several urgent measures are to be taken, − in part., to activate work on prolongation of already granted credits, grant new credits to agrarians and raise Agrarian-Industrial Complex programs budgetary financing (in part., program targeted at agricultural producers credits interest rates lowering). Also, budgetary financing of partial compensation for complicated domestically made agricultural equipment purchases should be resumed. Besides, Minister admitted it is necessary to provide budgetary financing of Agrarian-Industrial Complex insurance premiums cost cheapening and assure farm economies support.
