Ukraine will use its agricultural potential to produce biofuel

While speaking in Rome on World Food Summit devoted to global food crisis solution, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Valentyna Zavalevska has supported UN famine struggle initiatives. She made it known Ukrainian food articles output is quite sufficient to assure country domestic market demand. As to her, Ukraine is ready to strengthen its food articles export potential further on. Zavalevska admitted Ukrainian food articles export had boosted to US$6 milliard already in 2006 (up 30% against 2005). Deputy Minister said our country lands productivity makes it possible to produce up to 100 mn MT grains annually. As of now, Ukraine assures 2% total global grains export (7% – sugar beet, 2.2% – milk). As to Zavalevska, Ukraine will use its agricultural potential to produce biofuel. As to her, Ukraine will produce at least 520,000 MT various kinds biofuel annually until 2010. Deputy Minister assured all Rome Summit representatives that these plans are absolutely no threat to Ukrainian population food security.
