Ministry of Economics accused Yanukovych Government of high inflation

Ministry of Economics has declared Viktor Yanukovych Government incorrect activity in Agrarian-Industrial Complex sphere is to be blamed for country high inflation, reported Ministry of Economics press-service referring to Minister of Economics Bogdan Danilishyn. As to report, in 2007 (Yanukovych Government period) grains gross crop had declined by 15.5% (sunseeds – 21.6%, sugar beet – 23.9%); milk offer sagged by 8%. In 2007, agricultural products sale prices growth had reached 38% (resulting in agricultural products demand boost and subsequent prices rise). Ministry of Economics says high inflation was provoked as well by some other reasons, such as: population incomes rise, power sources/transportation prices boost and all material expenses multicative growth. Viktor Yanukovych Government stayed in power within Aug 04/06-Dec 18/07 with agrarian problems being tackled by Minister of Agrarian Policy Yuriy Melnyk and Agrarian-Industrial Complex Vice Premier Viktor Slauta. As of now, Melnyk heads Ministry of Agrarian Policy also in Yulia Tymoshenko Government (it is to be reminded, Melnyk is the only Minister who has retained previous position in Tymoshenko Cabinet). As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Ukrainian Mar 2008 consumption prices had risen 3.8%, up against Feb 2008; Jan-Mar 2008 inflation was 9.7%. As to Agro Perspective, International Monetary Fund had forecasted Ukrainian 2008 inflation would reach 20-22%.
