Agrarian ministry presumes lack of feed grain 2007

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy presumes that harvest of feed grain this year will be insufficient for domestic needs of the country, reads the speech of Agrarian Minister Yurii Melnyk posted on his official website.
«Lack of feed grain will adversely affect big stock-raising complexes producing pork and poultry. They work mostly using concentrated feeding,» follows from the information.
Besides, the Agrarian Ministry forecasts feed grain will grow in prices as a result of increasing cost price of livestock products.
As to Agro Perspectiva earlier report, Deputy Price Minister Viktor Slauta assured that grain harvest 2007 will meet internal needs of the state in bread and feed grain.
According to CEO of the Khlib Ukrainy Viktor Bondarenko, the company is giving up purchases of bread grain for the sake of feed wheat and barley, maize, rape and soy beans in 2007/2008MY.
According to the Agrarian Ministry’s press service of July 9 quoting First Deputy Minister Borys Supikhanov, state stock company Khlib Ukrainy is expected to buy 2.5 million tons of grain 2007 Grain harvest this year may drop to 2932 million tons.
