Chernihiv region farmers harvest 356,000 tons of grain 2007

As of July 23, farmers of the Chernihiv region have harvested 356,000 tons of early grain 2007, press service of the Chernihiv regional state administration reported quoting chair of the administration’s farm development department Anatolii Ivanko as saying. Farmers have threshed 122,800 ha of grain crops or 30% of forecasted. Average yield is 29 metric centners/ha. According to Ivanko, farmers intended to complete harvesting in 18 business days. Chernihiv region state administration forecasts grain harvest of 1.4 million tons, an increase of 8% against 2006. According to the State’s Statistic Committee, in 2006 farmers of the region have harvested 1,296,700 tons of grain crop and leguminous (including maize) from 557,700 ha.
