Ternopil region farmers harvest 19,000 tons of grain 2007

As of July 14, farmers of the Ternopil region have harvested 19,300 tons of early grain and leguminous crops, press service of the Ternopil regional state administration quotes Petro Vovchuk as saying. In particular, farmers have harvested 9,200 tons of winter wheat and 1,300 tons of winter barley. Early grain and leguminous crops were threshed from the area of 6,600 ha of the planned 442,300 ha. Average early grain crops harvest comprises 29,3 metric centners/ha, winter wheat harvest – 28,2 metric centners/ha, winter barley 36,2 metric centners/ha. Reportedly, Ternopil regional state administration forecasts increase of grain harvest to 1.05 million tons, which is 16% more against 2006. According to the State’s Statistic Committee, in 2006 farmers of the region have harvested 458,000 tons of wheat (winter and spring) from 198,800 ha; 244,800 tons of barley (winter and spring) from 119,000 ha.
