22.08.2003 «Agro Perspectiva» (Kyiv) — The marine transport infrastructure for grain export is necessary to Russia. According to news agency «PRIME-TASS», the minister of the transport of Russian Federation Serghiy Franc declared to the journalists on Friday after survey of the grain port terminal in Azov during one-day working trip to the Rostov area. The group of companies «Razgulyay-UKRROS» has begun construction of the grain port terminal in Azov at the end of 2002. The total volume of the investments of group of companies will be about 17 mn USD. It includes 13.5 mn USD which are already used in construction. Thus the Russian Bank of Development has granted credit for construction of the terminal at the rate of 158,5 mn RUR to the group of the companies. Transhipment capacity of Azov terminal is up to 1.5 mn MT of grain annually. It is all-the-year-round and all-weather action. Total length of two berthing walls is 240 meters. Grain, which arrives with railway and trucks, can be shipped simultaneously with speed on 350 MT per hour to 2 vessels by tonnage from 3 ths MT up to 5 ths MT each. The capacity of the terminal for grain storage is designed for 33 ths MT of grain and oilseeds. Berthing facilities and auxiliary premises of the terminal are already accepted by State Comission. Since August 11 State Comission works for acceptance of its technical equipments. The grain company «Razgulyay», which is a part of the group of companies «Razgulyay-UkrRos», plans, that in the current agricultural year (July 2003/July 2004) through Azov port terminal will be exported about 1 mn MT of grain. This company is one of the five largest operators on the Russian grain market.
