Indonesia Issues New Regulation on the Import of Meat

Following are selected highlights from a report issued by a U. S. Department of Agriculture attache in The Jakarta, the Government of Indonesia issued Regulation of the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) Number 15 Year 2021; «Business and Product Standards for Risk-Based Business Licensing Administration of the Agriculture Sector» on April 1, 2021. MOA Regulation 15/2021 establishes business activities and products standards for agricultural sectors including the «Import Recommendation Standard for Carcass, Meat, Offal, and/or Their Products Thereof for Food Purposes.» The MOA’s Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services (DGLAHS) recently notified FAS Jakarta about the new questionnaires that foreign meat and pork establishments must complete to obtain approval to export to Indonesia. These new questionnaires replace the previous single questionnaire for foreign meat establishments. All applications submitted to DGLAHS prior to April 2021 are not required to use the new questionnaires. All U. S. meat and pork establishments seeking to export to Indonesia must be approved by the Ministry of Agriculture. The list of approved foreign meat establishments can be found here. Note: All U. S. meat and pork establishments seeking approval to export to Indonesia must submit their applications through the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS), Office of Agricultural Affairs, U. S. Embassy, Jakarta.
