Milovanov to meet with tobacco companies representatives

07.11.2019 18:36 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of today, an intergovernmental meeting on Ukrainian competition law reform has taken place within Kyiv, Ukrinform reports. It is to be admitted, the meeting has been organized by USAID Competition Law and Antitrust Policy of Ukraine, USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine (CEU) program and Kyiv School of Economics (CSE). While speaking within the meeting, Tymofiy Milovanov, Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, told he is going to hold a meeting with representatives of tobacco companies operating within our country and discuss with them the state of this market and methods of improving the situation. "Within just half an hour, we are meeting with tobacco companies to discuss the state of monopolization and criminalization of the Ukrainian tobacco distributors’ market. There is one big company that controls the market. This company has been controlling the market since long; it is very difficult to tackle against this company, "Milovanov said. As to Milovanov, now his Ministry, together with the Antimonopoly Committee, regards the antimonopoly policy among the TOP-5 priorities of their work. «The other priorities are the agro-industrial complex, land market, State property management and investment into the economy,» he admitted.
