Rada banned Carpathians fir, beech forests logging

As of today, the Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law introducing amendments to some Ukrainian laws on the prohibition of the continuous logging of fir and beech forests on the the Carpathian region mountain slopes, Ukrinform reports.
As to the report, in total 301 MPs have voted for a corresponding draft law No. 0873 at the today parliament meeting.
Reportedly, the new law improves the measures for the protection of fir, beech forests on the Carpathian region mountain slopes from continuous felling, both for entrepreneurial and sanitary purposes.
Besides, the law introduces amendments to the laws on the nature reserve fund of Ukraine and on a moratorium on continuous felling on mountain slopes of the fir, beech forests of the Carpathian region.
It is to be reminded, as of 2018 Apr, Rada approved at first reading a draft law introducing amendments to some laws on the prohibition of the continuous logging of fir, beech forests on the Carpathian region mountain slopes.
