UN food agency reaches besieged Yemenis
23.10.2019 13:11 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Whilst most residents within Durayhimi City, Yemen, have fled the fierce fighting between pro-Government and rebel Houthi forces, some 200 civilians remain trapped, UN Radio says referring to the WFP (UN World Food Program) report.
As to the report, WFP has managed to reach these highly vulnerable people, and provide much-needed humanitarian assistance.
In meanwhile, WFP reminds the war is taking a heavy toll on those still living within the city; foods are scarce, shops are bare, and health facilities are non-existent.
It is to be admitted, this is only the second time within a year that WFP has been able to reach the town, which is about 20 kilometres south of the crucial port city of Hodeidah where a fragile UN-brokered truce has been observed within some months.
