Belarus apples crop to hit about 155,000 tons

13.09.2019 23:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — This year Belarus apples’ crop is expected to reach about 155,000 tons (toal fruits/berries - 164,000 tons), BelTA says referring to the Belarus Ministry of Agriculture and Foods report. As to the report, presently Belarus agricultural companies are busy harvesting the kinds of apples of the summer-autumn consumption period. Upon whole, over 12,500 tons apples of these kinds have been already harvested within Belarus (with some companies apples’ average yield reaching over 300 metric centners per ha) . It is to be admitted, the Belarus agricultural companies have, upon while, already eneded their summer berries harvesting. The summer berries’ crop has hit about 4,000 tons. However, the companies still have to harvest their autumn berries (chokeberry, cranberry, remont raspberry and strawberry). To provide the population with domestic fruits in the off-season, about 13.2 thousand tons of fruits will be stored in the storages. In addition, agricultural organizations lay apples for storage inside the republic and for export. For these purposes, manufacturers have fruit storages with a total capacity of 103 thousand tons.
