World Food Programme calling for additional funding to overcome Central African Republic foods shortage
27.08.2019 10:13 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of last week, World Food Programme (WFP) Spokesperson Herve Verhoosel visited a foods’ distribution site at the Elevages internally displaced refugee camp within Bambari (Central African Republic), UN Radio reports.
As to the report, wuring his visit to the camp, Verhoosel said that «multiple generations within each family now share a small „habitation“ and that without the agency support, they would not know where their next meal would come from».
It is to be admitted, as of now, almost three million people within CAR require humanitarian assistance (nearly two of every three people) what makes it the third largest humanitarian world crisis (after Yemen and Syria), to the proportion of the total population in need of humanitarian assistance. As to the WFP, a further US$35.5 million is needed by end of the year, to achieve the WFP target of more than doubling of its support to CAR by Dec 2020.
