Kazakhstan sugar output down 45%
10.07.2019 23:02 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As to the Kazakhstan Agriculture Ministry, within this year Jan-May, country sugar output has fallen to 91,000, down 45.4% against last year similar, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to the Energyprom report.
As to the Minsitry, the Kazakhstan sugar output sharp fall is due to LLC Central Asian Sugar Corporation activity suspension (Shuskiy, Tarazskiy and Merkenskiy Sugar Plants work has been hold up for a few months).
However, the Ministry experts say the situation can improve soon as the Kazakhstan Government is going to construct 2 sugar plants. The first sugar plants is to be constructed within Zhambyl region (project cost 80 milliard Tenghe or US$240 million), the second one - within Pavlodar region (project cost 180 milliard Tenghe or US$540 million). Each sugar plant is expected to produce 100,000 tons sugar yearly, working on the local-grown sugar beets.
Thus, the Ministry is going to ovecome the Kazakhstan domestic market dependence on sugar import.
