Ukrsadvynprom: Ukrainian 2019 apple crop expected to be same as of 2018
14.05.2019 23:08 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
This year, the Ukrainian seed fruits’ trees (in part., apple trees) have overwintered well, so the domestic seed fruits’ crop is expected to be same as of last year, with seed fruits’ crop overproduction possible to be reduced by the export sale shipments, Interfax-Ukraine says referring to Volodymyr Pechko, Public Association Ukrsadvynprom (Ukrainian Gardeners, Wine-growers and Winemakers Association) Head, report.
«We expect this year the seed fruits (in part., apples) crop will be as high as of last year. Also, we hope this year the seed fruits’ export will continue boosting,» Pechko admits.
It is to be reminded, as of 2018, Ukraine exported fruits/berries for total US$229 million (up 17% against 2017), with the EU countries remaining, traditionally, the main sale markets as they purchased 2/3 of the Ukrainian 2018 total fruits/berries’ export. As of 2018, the highest purchases were made by Poland (for US$39.8 million).
