WHO: New malaria vaccine trial marks 'an innovation milestone'

As of this week, a new vaccine against deadly malaria has been made available for the first time to infants within Malawi, UN Radio says referring to the WHO report.
It is to be admitted, the new vaccine has been developed within 30 years; the WHO experts say is marks an «innovation milestone» within the fight against malaria.
It is to be noted, malaria remains among the world leading killers, with one child dying every two minutes. Most of the fatalities are within Africa, where more than 250,000 children die each year. The new vaccine official name is RTS,S. It will also be introduced within Ghana and Kenya within the coming weeks.
«We need new solutions to get the malaria response back on track, and this vaccine gives us a promising tool to get there. he malaria vaccine has the potential to save tens-of-thousands of lives,» WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus, has said while commenting on the new vaccine.
