Topchiy: Agrarians quickening their spring field works pace

As of this year Mar 13, agrarians have started their early spring grains/leguminous crops’ sowing already within Ukrainian 14 regions. In meanwhile, other regions’ agrarians (mainly north/east regions) are waiting for the weather conditions’ improvement, Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports.
As to the report, the agrarians have already sown early spring grains/leguminous crops’ at 258,000 ha (11% totaled planned 7.2 million ha areas), incl. barley - at 177,000 ha (11%); wheat - at 10,000 ha (6%); oats - 5,000 ha (2%) and peas - at 67,000 ha (19%).
"This year, thanks to favorable weather, the agrarians have started their sowing campaign one month earlier as of usual; presently the sowing campaign is gaining pace each day. Our agrarians have enough resources to perform the spring grains sowing within optimal terms, sticking to all the technological requirements ", Volodymyr Topchiy, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, admits.
Reportedly, as of now, the agrarians continue fertilizing of their winter crops (for grains). As of this year Mar 13, the agrarians have already fertilized the winter crops at 5.4 million ha (72%), incl. winter wheat - at 4.5 million ha (70%); winter rye - at 70,000 ha (61%); winter barley - at 846,000 ha (84%); winter rapeseeds - at 1.1 million ha (86%, up against last year similar 332,000 thousand ha).
