Once again, Ukrainian domestic onion prices down
21.02.2019 17:41 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of now, the Ukrainian producers are to decline their domestic market onion prices mainly due to domestic market trade activity sharp slackening (caused by the onion import growth from Kazakhstan/Uzbekistan), EastFruit reports.
As a result, now the imported onion prices on the Ukrainian domestic market are UAH10 per kg (US$0.37 per kg); it is to be admitted, as of recent, the imported onion quality has much worsened.
As to the report, taking into account these factors, the Ukrainian producers are also to start declining their domestic market onion prices. Thus, as of now, the Ukrainian producers sales their onions at UAH1114 per kg (US$0.410.52 per kg) depending on quality.
It is to be admitted, just within this week only, the Ukrainian domestic market onion prices have declined by about 8% against last week.
Experts admit one more factor motivating the Ukrainian domestic market onion prices’ fall is that the domestic agrarians have started selling off their onion reserves ahead of the spring field works’ beginning - and so the onion offer has sharply grown, though the demand so far remains low.
