Ukrainian 2019 sugar beets sowing area to reduce one fourth
19.02.2019 20:03 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of 2019, Ukrainian sugar beets’ sown areas will decline to 220,000230,000 ha, down about 25% against 2018 and maximum low within last 5 years, Ukrinform says referring to Ruslana Butylo, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers Board Deputy Chairman, report.
«This year, the sugar beets’ sowing campaign will start within a month and a half, and so far we have an unfavorable forecast for the sown areas’ size. Thus, as to our data, the sugar beets will be sown at just 220,000230,000 ha in best case - what means the lowest sown areas’ size within last 5 years. Certainly, the sown areas’ size reduction will lead to the domestic sugar output decline and sugar plants’ staff shortening,» Butylo admits.
