Baranivskiy: food wheat shares 73% total harvested wheat

Speaking on Verhovna Rada session, Oleksandr Baranivskiy, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy, declared food wheat shares 73% of total Ukrainian harvested wheat. «I would like to say this year we will get not less 15 mn MT food wheat,» emphasized Baranivskiy. As to him, in 2005 food wheat shared 46% country total wheat crop. As earlier reported, Ministry of Agrarian Policy forecasted this year food wheat crop would be not below 60% country total wheat crop; Ministry expected this year wheat crop would reach 17 mn MT. 2005 wheat crop had grown to 18.699 mn MT (in terms of weight after additional processing), up 6.7% against 2004, with wheat average yield equaling to 28,5 metric centners per ha (down against 31,7 metric centners per ha in 2004). Within 2005 wheat was harvested at total 6,571.000 ha (up as of 5,533.700 ha in 2004). 2005 winter wheat crop equaled to 17.683 mn MT (spring wheat 1.016 mn MT). 2005 grain crop totaled 38.015 mn MT (down against 41.808 mn MT in 2004).
