FAO: Rural residents are themselves to decide to leave or to stay
16.10.2018 19:11 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Rural residents’ migration to cities and abroad should not be for them the only way out. Instead, their life within in their villages is to be improved. However, in any case, these are only they who must decide whether they go out or stay, Ukrinform says referring to the FAO annual report titled The State of Food and Agriculture 2018 (SOFA).
It is to be admitted, the FAO report has appeared on the eve of World Food Day (marked annually Oct 16).
«In many cases, it is necessary to promote the rural residents’ migration and help potential migrants overcome the difficulties they may encounter … At the same time, it also means creating attractive alternative opportunities for the rural residents, not least by promoting the development of rural areas or neighboring areas,» FAO Head Graziano da Silva said while commenting on the report.
