Europe faces potatoes deficit due to abnormal heat, UK prices tripled

As of now, the GB domestic market potatoes’ prices have started sharply growing due to the country potatoes crop decline caused by abnormally hot weather; thus, as of this year Aug, the GB domestic market potatoes prices have jumped 3 times against last year Aug, Interfax-Ukraine says referring the British Council for the Development of Agriculture and Horticulture report.
Thus, the GB domestic market fresh potatoes’ average wholesale price has boosted to of fresh potatoes in the UK in August rose to £300 (US$390) per ton - what means the third highest result since the entire observations’ period (since last century 50s).
It is to be admitted, at the Leipzig (Germany) Exchange Market, futures quotations for potatoes (for the catering/food industry) have grown 2 times, with the most active contract (2019 Apr shipments) quotations having had grown within this week to EUR31.5 per 100 kg (much up against last year similar EUR15 per 100 kg).
