Kazakhstan to enlarge its sugar beet irrigated sown areas

This year the Almaty region (Kazakhstan) total crops’ irrigated area has boosted by 5,000 ha; within the next three years it will reach 120,000 ha, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to Nurlan Kirikbaiev, Agricultural Department Head of the Eskeldin District (Almaty region), report.
As to Kirikbaiev, the Almaty region total crops’ irrigated area boost has been caused mainly by the sugar beet sown area enlarging.
It is to be admitted, as of now, the irrigated lands total area within the Eskeldin District is 22,000 ha.
As to Kirikbaiev, in order to expand the Eskeldin District total crops’ cultivation area, the construction of 300 km of irrigation networks reconstruction and 77 hydro units has been already started.
«So, if this year we complete all the initially planned work, we will have the opportunity to process additionally still over 4,200 ha next year. Then we will be able to sow more sugar beets and soybeans,» Kirikbaiev admits.
As to him, within this season, the Eskeldin District agrarians have sown the sugar beet at over 11,200 ha. It is to be admitted, agrarians are cultivating their sugar beet up to the modern technology, and there are even first records. Thus, some Eskeldin District farms have received the sugar beet root crop weighing over 2 kg. As to experts, the Eskeldin District sugar beet average yield will exceed 1,000 metric centners per ha.
