Ukrainians eat less ice cream than Europeans, Americans
26.06.2018 23:36 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of this week, while sharing an interview with the Ukrinform, Ihor Bartkovskiy, President of the Association of the Ukrainian Ice Cream and Frozen Foods Producers, said Ukrainians eat less ice cream than residents of the European Union and the United States.
«The recent years’ statistical data show that consumption of ice cream per capita within Ukraine is 2.3 kg of ice cream a year, within the EU - 12.9 kg per capita, within
the US - over 24 kg. This can be explained by the Ukrainians’ low purchasing power, they do not consider the ice cream as a top priority among their food products,» he admitted.
As to him, within recent years, the Ukrainian domestic ice cream consumption has boosted. This, as of 2015, Ukrainians ate 80,600 tons of ice cream (2016 - 85,900 tons, 2017 - already 91,800 tons).
«As of 2018, summer started early and has favored the consumption of ice cream. We are seeing production and export growth,» Bartkovsky noted.
