08.06.2018 22:09 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of this week, while speaking within a conference «Reducing the amount of falsified CZR import into the country, ensuring market presence and using only quality CZRs by agricultural producers», Director of the Department of Phytosanitary Security, Seed and Planting Control of the Ukrainian State Service for Foods Safety and Consumer Protection, Andriy Chelombitco, has said the use of pesticides and agrochemicals today helps agricultural producers to boost plant yields, as well as to meet the global demand for agro-industrial products, Ukrainian State Service for Foods Safety and Consumer Protection reports.
As to the report, Chelombitco added that despite of that, the Department is very concerned about the growing lots of illicit and counterfeit plant protection agents within Ukraine.
As to the report, he emphasized that improving of the phytosanitary conditions of Ukrainian fields is one of the key factors to create a favorable climate in order to assure Ukrainian successful crops’ harvesting and plants’ export . The constituent of such conditions is the use of qualitative plant protection agents, control over their circulation and fulfillment of the requirements of the partner countries of Ukraine within the international trade.
In turn, Deputy Director of the Department of Phytosanitary Security, Victor Stefkivskiy, stressed that now the counterfeit plant protection agents’ share is about 20%-30% (retail trade - about 50%) of the Ukrainian total domestic plant protection agents market .
It is to be admitted, the need of Ukrainian agricultural producers in agrochemicals is about 100,000 tons per year (about US$2 milliard) - what is extremely attractive for the counterfeiting business.
