31.05.2018 19:44 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of this week, Astarta Agro-Industrial Holding, the Ukrainian largest sugar producer, has ended its spring crops sowing at the total area of 170,000 ha, Interfax-Ukraine says referring the Astarta report.
As to the report, the Astarta agrarians have sown sugar beet at 41,000 ha (sunflower - 41,000 ha, maize - 67,000 ha, soybeans - 20,000 ha). Besides, Astarta has also ended sowing of barley, oats, buckwheat, sorgo, annual herbs and other crops.
«The structure of the Astarta current year crops’ rotation reflects the market trends. It is to be admitted, shortening of the sugar beet sown areas will make it possible for us to harvest and process the sugar beet within the optimal time, making a focuse on the cost and quality of sugar. Besides, traditionally, in addition to Astarta own sugar beet, the company will accept the sugar beet from partners,» the report runs.
As to the report, Astarta has enlarged its maize sown areas - what, the Astarta experts say, also will bring positive financial results (due to global maize prices constant growth).
