FAO: Ukrainian organic products domestic market segment so far very narrow
29.05.2018 21:36 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of now, most Ukrainian domestic consumers are not ready to pay two or three times up for an organic product, Interfax-Ukraine says referring to Andriy Yarmak, UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) economist.
«As earlier, the organic segment remains very narrow. There are very few people understanding what is it and ready to pay two or three times up for the products which are really organic,» he said.
As to him, this domestic market situation is due to some gaps within the Ukrainian consumers’ education and quality perception.
As to Yarmak, the Ukrainian domestic market trends are now in a close line with the global ones. However, it is difficult to forecast how these trends will develop further on, as much depends on the Ukrainian population income rates.
