Canada to allocate US$1 million for a cooperative milk processing plant construction

The Canadian Government is going to allot US$ 1 million for the construction of a cooperative milk processing plant within the Lviv Oblast within the framework of the Development of Ukrainian Dairy Business project, Interfax-Ukraine says referring to the Lviv Regional State Administration report.
As to the report, the remaining amount (US$300,000) will be allocated by the domestic raw milk producers who will bring their raw milk to the plant for processing; producers who wil bring 100 liters per day and up raw milk are expected to allocate UAH50,000, while those producers who will bring 1,500 liters per day are expected to allocate UAH750,000.
«Such domestic investors become shareholders of the plant for an amount that is twice up of the amount of their investments,» the report says.
As to the report, the Development of Ukrainian Dairy Business project is now implemented within 4 regions: Lviv region, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Dnipropetrovsk region and Kherson region. The project is funded by the Canadian Government. The project is aimed at solving of the problems which press the Ukrainian small- and medium-sized raw milk producers by creating of the raw milk producers’ new cooperatives and strengthening of the already existing ones. The project budget totals CAD27.7 million; the implementation period is 20142021.
