Apples, pears and peaches remain the most demanded fruits globally

As to the UN FAO, as of 2016, global fruits/berries output continued stably growing, having reached in total 717 million tons, Interfax-Ukraine says referring to the Ukrainian association Ukrsadprom report.
«Bananas, apples, grapes and oranges remain the most popular kinds of fruits and berries. Thus, as of 2016, 113 million tons bananas, 89 million tons apples, 77 million tons grapes, 73 million tons oranges were harvested globally,» the report reads.
Besides, 47 million tons mango and guava, 35 million tons plantains (a variety of bananas), 33 million tons mandarins and clementines, 27 million tons pears, 26 million tons pineapples, 25 million tons peaches and nectarines were harvested.
As noted, these fruits account for over 75% of the global fruits/berries’ total output.
