UN starts campaign to protect about a milliard people against yellow fever

As of this week, the Director-General of the UN World Health Organization (WHO), while speaking within the Nigerian capital Abuja, has launched an ambitious campaign, the Eliminate Yellow Fever Epidemics (EYE) in Africa strategy, UN Radio reports.
It is to be admitted, the campaign has been started jointly with the Nigerian Health Minister.
«With one injection we can protect a person for life against this dangerous pathogen,» Ghebreyesus admitted.
As to him, this initiatve goal is to rid the continent of the yellow fever (a viral disease with potentially fatal consequences) by 2026.
It is to be admitted, this campaign has been launched amid a resurgence of yellow fever outbreaks; it is aimed at vaccinating about one milliard people against the deadly disease across 27 high-risk African countries.
«This unprecedented commitment by countries will ensure that by 2026 Africa is free of yellow fever epidemics,» Tedros added.
