EU, Ukraine launch five projects on local government decentalization

As of last week, within the meeting of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the European Commission in Brussels, the European Union and Ukrainian some cities and regions agreed on the implementation of joint projects in support of the decentralization of the Ukrainian local authorities, an Ukrinform correspondent reported from Brussels.
«The European Union is strengthening its support for local and regional authorities in Ukraine. The EU has launched five partnership projects between Ukraine and the EU regions and cities,» the CoR report says.
It is to be admitted, local communities from Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania and Poland plan to join the projects.
As to the report, the Ukrainian local authorities and communities already joined the initiative. The Ukrainian cities and regions submitted corresponding proposals for these projects whose implementation they are interested in.
These projects will be aimed at developing economic plans, training local government officials, the issues of education, health and culture, as well as supporting rural areas, small and medium-sized enterprises, and tourism development. It is to be admitted, the projects are to be financed by the European Commission.
