EU: new financial aid for Ukraine to depend on reforms
06.03.2018 14:42 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The approval of the new macro-financial assistance program of the European Union for Ukraine will depend on accelerating the reforms in the country, UNIAN says referring to Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis Facebook report.
«It is important that the EU stays with Ukraine and this support continues. Of course, the support is conditional also on the reform agenda within Ukraine, so we will be able to engage with Ukraine and also facilitate reform delivery within Ukraine,» the report reads.
As to the earlier report, as of 2015, the EU offered Ukraine a package of macro-financial repayable assistance amounting to EUR1.8 milliard. Within the framework of this program, Ukraine has already received EUR1.2 milliard. The allocation of the next credit tranche was suspended until the Verkhovna Rada adopts the required bills on the abolition of roundwood export ban, as well as the support of IDPs.
It is to be admitted, within 2016 Ukraine did not receive any credit tranches from the EU. As to the European Commission, since 2014 Ukraine has in total received EUR2.61 milliard of macro-financial assistance (incl. EUR1.61 milliard within 20142015 and EUR1.2 milliard under the current program within 20152017).
