Savchuk: Khmelnytskiy demonstrates successful example of biomass, biogas output
28.02.2018 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of this week, Head of the Ukrainian State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Serghiy Savchuk together with Deputy Mayor of Khmelnytskiy Volodymyr Goncharuk, USAID Municipal Energy Reform within Ukraine Project Director Diana Korsakaite and reporters from Ukrainian different regions, made a press tour on a number of successfully implemented renewable energy facilities within Khmelnitskiy, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, the press tour participants firstly inspected the landfill gas degassing device (installed at Khmelnytskiy Solid Waste Landfill at this year beginning).
The device total capacity is 845 kW, it makes it possible to produce about 3.7 million kWh of electricity each year, which will be sold within the electricity network at a «green» tariff. It is to be admitted, this project, useful for the city, was implemented to implement the Plan of Action for Sustainable Energy Development of Khmelnytskiy, developed jointly with USAID.
It is to be mentioned, Savchuk is convinced that biogas devices’ projects need to be distributed throughout the country, as they primarily solve the energy, economic and environmental issues of the cities.
As to the report, the press tour participants also inspected a 1.9 MW solid-fuel boiler house, with two domestically made boilers installed. The boiler house works on wood chips and heats up local budgetary organizations and residential buildings. This boiler-house makes it possible to substitute about 700,000 cubic meters gas per year.
As to the report, about 50 journalists participating within the press tour got convinced of the effectiveness of «green» projects. The use of local fuels allows solving energy shipment issues, saving significant volumes of gas, leaving the saved money to work for the city economy, creating new jobs and boosting the budget revenues.
