Winter crops sprouted at 99.6% total sown areas

As of this year mid-Feb, Ukrainian winter crops’ sown area totals 7.3 million ha, with sprouts having appeared at 99.6% of the total area, Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food says referring to Ukrainian First Deputy Agrarian Policy Minister Maksym Martyniuk Facebook report.
As to the report, winter crops’ sprouts at almost 6.3 million ha (87% total sown area) are in good/satisfactory condition; sprouts at 971,000 ha (13%) are weak and rare.
Reportedly, winter rape sprouts have appeared at 1 million ha (99% of winter rape total sown area); winter rape sprouts at almost 884,600 ha (89% total winter rape sown area) are in good/satisfactory condition; sprouts at 110,000 ha (11%) are weak and rare.
«It is clear that these data are not final, and so the winter crops state will depend on weather conditions. However, we can make a preliminary careful forecast : winter crops have come through wintering successfully, without any serious losses,» Martyniuk writes.
In meanwhile, as to the Ukrainian regions’ preliminary data, agrarians have carried out fertilizing of their winter grains within 14 regions (at 399,200 ha or 5% total winter grains sown area) thanks to favorable weather conditions. In part., agrarians have already fertilized: winter wheat at 317,800 ha (5% total winter wheat sown area); winter rye at 800 ha (1% total winter rye sown area); winter barley at 80,600 ha (10% total winter barley sown area). Besides, agrarians have already fertilized winter rape at 92,900 ha (9% total winter rape sown area).
