Zubko: Ukraine is approaching its decentralization reform equator

As of yesterday, while speaking within the II All-Ukrainian Forum of Consolidated Communities Life-Changing Initiatives, Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services Hennadiy Zubko told Ukraine is approaching the decentralization reform equator as evidenced by erected kindergartens, hub schools or built kilometers of new road infrastructure, but above all by the new quality of services provision in communities and improvement of the citizens lives, Government Portal reports.
«Nowadays we can talk about 665 communities within which first elections either have already took place or will be held within Dec 2017. Taking into account the communities awaiting for the Central Election Commission decision, 688 CCs will have been formed by the beginning of 2018. And this fact brings Ukraine closer to the equator of the reform,» he said.
As to him, financial capabilities of the communities have been growing since the beginning of decentralization process. «Budget decentralization has enabled an increase in local budgets from
UAH98.2 milliard within 2015 up to UAH 170.7 milliard within 2017. The CCs budgets have upped from UAH 4.1 milliard to UAH 7.5 milliard respectively,» the Vice Prime Minister stressed.
